Digital Healthcare Platforms for Healthcare Improvement

Digital healthcare platforms are online services that provide access to health information, diagnosis, treatment, and care delivery. They can include websites, apps, telemedicine, wearable devices, and electronic health records. Digital healthcare platforms have the potential to improve national healthcare by enhancing the efficiency, quality, accessibility, and affordability of health services. The digital healthcare platforms need to be designed and implemented with care and caution, taking into account the needs and preferences of users, providers, and policymakers. They also need to be evaluated and monitored for their effectiveness and impact on national healthcare.

Nurses are the blessings of God

Today is International Nurse Day. It is observed around the world to honour the contribution of nurses to society and acknowledge the role they play in the overall healthcare system. Nurses play a crucial role in providing medical care and their role during COVID-19 has inspired humankind. Nurses have a long and rich history of serving humanity with compassion and professionalism. Nurse Day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges and issues that nurses face in their work. Let us recognize that nurses are not only caregivers, but also leaders, innovators, and advocates for health and human rights.

Medibriefcase Medical Check-up Camp

A lack of affordability, accessibility, and awareness surrounding healthcare services throughout India continues to inhibit the penetration of quality medical services, especially in rural regions and tier III urban centres, where the majority of the Indian population lives. In our endeavour to make quality healthcare available at smaller centres and to the deprived sections of society, the Medibriefcase organised a free medical check-up camp at the orphanage — Vatsalya Dham — in the Ramgarh district of the Jharkhand state.

Paper vs. Electronic Medical Record Keeping

Medical records are the document that explains all detail about the patient’s history, clinical findings, diagnostic test results, pre and postoperative care, patient’s progress and medication. If written correctly, notes will support the doctor about the correctness of treatment. A good medical record serves the interest of the medical practitioner as well as his patients. It is very important for the treating doctor to properly document the management of the patient under his care.

Digital Transformation in Healthcare

Digital healthcare, is a broad, multidisciplinary concept that includes concepts from an intersection between technology and healthcare. Digital healthcare applies digital transformation to the healthcare field, incorporating software, hardware and services. There is a major shift towards a digital health ecosystem approach that connects and empowers people and populations to manage their own health and wellness. Digital healthcare has the potential to prevent disease and lower healthcare costs while helping patients monitor and manage chronic conditions. It can also tailor medicine for individual patients. However, there are some challenges too.

World Hypertension Day (17 May)

On 17 May, we celebrate World Hypertension Day (WHD), a day dedicated to highlighting the importance of monitoring blood pressure and bringing global awareness to over 1 billion people living with high blood pressure worldwide. The theme of WHD for 2022 is “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.” It focuses on combating low awareness rates worldwide, especially in low to middle-income areas, and accurate blood pressure measurement methods. The day focuses on creating effective communication about the importance of raising awareness on the early diagnosis of high blood pressure and avoiding complications of advanced stage complications.

Home Care Isn’t Home Health Care

Although there are many differences between home care and home health care, both types of care can help older adults stay safe and independent in their homes. Home health care provides “clinical” or “skilled” care by qualified doctors, licensed nurses and therapists whereas homecare provides “non-clinical” or “non-skilled” care by professional caregivers. Home healthcare provides clinical care to help the patient recover, and home care helps with day-to-day caregiving and tasks.

Long COVID: Lasting Illness After Recovery

Most people who catch COVID-19 won’t become severely ill and get better relatively quickly. But significant numbers have had long-term problems after recovering from the original infection — even if they weren’t very ill in the first place. Post-COVID conditions are a wide range of new, returning, or ongoing health problems people can experience four or more weeks after first being infected with the virus that causes COVID-19.
