British officers later popularized punch in England, evolving into modern cocktails. Surat’s innovative spirit laid the groundwork for global drinking traditions, highlighting India's vital influence on mixology.
Paleontologists discovered fossilized vertebrae of Vasuki indicus in western India, revealing one of the largest snakes to have existed, estimated at 15 meters long. Belonging to a now-extinct snake family, it thrived 47 million years ago, preying on animals in swampy regions. The discovery sheds light on prehistoric life and the evolution of snakes.
Gondal, a city in Gujarat, is known for its rich cultural heritage and impressive architecture, most notably majestic palaces and vintage vehicles. A part of the Kathiawar Agency under the Bombay Presidency, the roots of Gondal's history go back to the medieval period. Its most famous ruler, Sir Bhagwat Sinhji (1888-1944), was known for his progressive reforms. Today, the city is appreciated for its splendid palaces like Naulakha Palace, structures like the Huzoor Palace & Orchard Palace, and the Vintage Car Museum, all offering glimpses of the city's regal past.
Our pilgrimage to Somnath Dham was a transformative experience blending history, spirituality, and serendipity. We eagerly visited the revered Somnath Temple, absorbing its rich legends and significance. An unexpected stop in Chorwad heightened our journey by tracing the birthplace of Dhirubhai Ambani. As we reflected post-aarti, the divine aura and resilience of the site resonated deeply, leaving us spiritually rejuvenated and profoundly grateful.
There is a serene beach at Madhavpur on the road to Somnath from Dwarka. It lies on the seashore, close to Porbandar. Madhavpur isn’t much well-known. However it is a very important pilgrimage for Hindu Vaishnavas. ccording to folklore, Lord Krishna kidnapped princess Rukmini (Rukmini haran) and eloped with her to prevent an unwanted marriage at her request and saved her from evil Shishupala. Lord Krishna married princess Rukmini at this village while returning to Dwaraka. She is the first and the most prominent queen of Krishna.

Porbandar, a coastal city with rich cultural and historical significance, is the birthplace of Sudama and holds Kirti Mandir, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Visiting Sudama Mandir, a serene temple dedicated to Sudama and feeding pigeons, brought tranquillity. The city's blend of history, culture, nature, and spirituality left a lasting impression, enriching our journey.
Dwarka is not merely a destination—it is a remembrance. Where legend rises from the sea, faith breathes through stone, and time bows quietly before devotion. Walking its sacred paths, one feels Krishna not as history, but as presence—gentle, enduring, and alive in every prayer, wave, and whisper of the wind.
