We enjoy a ropeway ride and a playful experience at a 3D Photo Museum. The shrine's modest presence alongside a Muslim mazhār symbolises harmony, enhancing the city's magical charm for us at sunset.
As Nowruz approached, friends and I explored the National Museum of Iraq in Baghdad, a vital custodian of Mesopotamian history. Despite the tragic looting in 2003, the museum houses a rich collection, including the Lady of Warka and artifacts from diverse ancient cultures. Its resilience serves as a beacon of hope and connection to Iraq’s past, urging visitors to appreciate and support its heritage.
The Lamassu is a celestial being from ancient Mesopotamian religion bearing the head of a man, the wings of an eagle, and the hulking body of a bull, sometimes with the horns and the ears of a bull. The Lamassu combines the strength of a bull, the freedom of an eagle, and the intelligence of a human being.
Gondal, a city in Gujarat, is known for its rich cultural heritage and impressive architecture, most notably majestic palaces and vintage vehicles. A part of the Kathiawar Agency under the Bombay Presidency, the roots of Gondal's history go back to the medieval period. Its most famous ruler, Sir Bhagwat Sinhji (1888-1944), was known for his progressive reforms. Today, the city is appreciated for its splendid palaces like Naulakha Palace, structures like the Huzoor Palace & Orchard Palace, and the Vintage Car Museum, all offering glimpses of the city's regal past.
