In Baghdad, a rare snowfall captivated residents, transforming the bustling city into a serene, white landscape. This extraordinary event, not witnessed for over a decade, sparked reflections on the city's historical anomalies in climate. As the Iraqi Meteorological Organization forecasted further temperature drops, Baghdad's resilience and unpredictability in nature became evident. Amid the snow's quiet beauty, the city's storied past and uncertain future left a lingering sense of mystery.
The third day of the journey in Sikkim explored the stunning Yumthang Valley and the dramatic Zero Point. The day began with breathtaking views of the Himalayas in Lachung. The ascent to Zero Point was challenging yet rewarding, revealing a barren landscape at an altitude of 15,300 feet, marking the edge of civilization. The return included a visit to the vibrant Yumthang Valley, rich in floral beauty, before experiencing obstacles on the road back to Gangtok, culminating in unforgettable memories.
The journey from Gangtok to Lachen initiated an unforgettable Himalayan adventure. The pristine beauty of North Sikkim, with its winding roads and serene landscapes, provided a tranquil escape from urban life. Lachen served as a gateway to higher altitudes, while Thangu became an essential acclimatization stop. The extraordinary Gurudongmar Lake, amid breathtaking scenery, evoked a sense of awe, merging spirituality with nature’s raw beauty, enriching the traveler’s experience.
On a crisp March morning, we set out from Gangtok toward Tsomgo Lake, a shimmering jewel at 12,400 feet. The winding roads revealed forests, waterfalls, and grazing yaks. When we finally reached the serene, mirror-like lake, its calm beauty was both humbling and magical. Between yak rides, steaming momos, and whispered legends, Tsomgo offered pure Himalayan enchantment.
Today marked the conclusion of my business in Lebanon, leaving me with mixed emotions of achievement and sadness. To celebrate, I ventured to Faraya for skiing at the Mzaar Ski Resort, just an hour from Beirut. Surrounded by magnificent snowy landscapes and vibrant mountain air, I embraced the adventure despite my rudimentary skiing skills. This unexpected getaway showcased Lebanon’s unique charm, blending business with breathtaking nature.
