Revamping My Aquarium | A Journey to The Unknown

Maintaining a fish tank is a fun, rewarding hobby, and having your own aquarium is a great opportunity to study a marine ecosystem in action. We are having aquariums in our house for a long. Over these past years, many fish came in and danced, swam in these mini and nano tanks.

Before revamping

Due to Corona lockdown, my dad is staying with us since the end of March this year. We planned to revamp our aquariums to make them look more beautiful and the residents in these tanks happier. We did some online research and purchases along with some enquiries and purchases in the local markets in Ranchi. We emptied the tanks and remodelled the large tank with a hardscape using sands, stones, driftwoods, and some decorative pieces and the result is amazing. Fish look brighter and cheerful in their new environment.

The large tank

We converted the small tank into a softscape aquarium with live green plants planted on substrate soil. We will keep it for a fortnight to let the plants get properly rooted and then will release some colourful tiny plant-friendly fish.

The small tank

We also purchased a big glass bubble bowl, where we planted bamboos, which we were growing separately for a fortnight. The bowl is now a bamboo and fish aquarium.

Our new project is still a work in progress as every day we are looking for new ideas. Each new addition gives me joy, which is unparalleled. It’s like a journey, which takes me into the unknown, an ecosystem that I haven’t seen before. It’s really a peep into the unknown like a mystic revelation in front of my eyes. How it works itself is itself a mystery.

After a couple of days of transferring the fish from the small tank to the glass bubble bowl, I found some fish larvae swimming in the tank! Unexpected fish breeding in my aquarium! Wow!

  1. Looks really beautiful.
Keeping aquariums nice and clean is quite a job, we suppose. Well, we assume this, we never had an aquarium.

I wonder how Judha manages his time from his busy professional commitments, culinary exploration and creating engrossing stories to finding time for the aqua world… Hats off to him…👍👍
