In the vast expanse of Kurukshetra, where armies amassed in preparation for an epic battle, there existed a small, seemingly insignificant drama that unfolded with profound implications. It was the story of a sparrow, a mother with four fragile offspring, whose world was upended by the chaos of war.
As the battleground was being readied, trees were felled and the ground was cleared to accommodate the movement of mammoth armies and their cavalry. Amidst this upheaval, the sparrow’s nest was dislodged from its perch, leaving the helpless mother and her young ones exposed and vulnerable.
In her desperation, the sparrow turned to Lord Krishna, who stood amidst the preparations with Arjuna by his side. Krishna, the embodiment of divinity, listened to her plea with compassion but explained that he could not interfere with the natural order of things.
Yet, the sparrow’s faith remained unshaken. She surrendered herself and her offspring to the will of Krishna, recognizing him as the ultimate protector and sustainer of life. In response, Krishna advised her to prepare for the days ahead by stocking food in her nest.
Unbeknownst to Arjuna, Krishna’s interaction with the sparrow held deeper significance. Two days later, as the battle loomed on the horizon, Krishna took up his bow and arrow, a sight that surprised Arjuna, who believed Krishna had sworn not to wield weapons in the war.
Krishna’s arrow struck an elephant, not to cause harm but to dislodge a bell that had once adorned its neck. Arjuna, puzzled by this seemingly trivial act, questioned Krishna’s motives. However, Krishna remained steadfast, offering no explanation as the war commenced and raged for eighteen days.
In the aftermath of the battle, amidst the carnage and devastation, Krishna led Arjuna once more across the battlefield. Pausing at a spot where an elephant bell lay, Krishna instructed Arjuna to lift it aside.
As Arjuna obeyed, a miraculous sight unfolded before him. From within the bell emerged the sparrow’s four young ones, followed by the mother herself. At that moment, the true significance of Krishna’s actions became clear – a single act of intervention had safeguarded an entire family.
The tale of the sparrow’s nest serves as a timeless reminder of the power of faith and divine intervention in the face of adversity. In our own battle against the Coronavirus, it urges us to remain steadfast in our resolve and trust in a higher power. Just as the sparrow entrusted her fate to Krishna, so too must we trust in science, adhere to safety measures, and wait patiently until the bell tolls and the threat is lifted.
In these uncertain times, let us draw inspiration from the sparrow’s unwavering faith and resilience, knowing that with patience, perseverance, and divine grace, we shall emerge victorious.
Stay safe. Stay at home until the bell is lifted.
