India, with its diverse and sprawling population of over 1.3 billion, presents a unique set of healthcare challenges. The disparities between urban and rural healthcare infrastructure are stark. According to a United Nations report, a staggering 75% of all healthcare infrastructure, including medical specialists and doctors, is concentrated in urban areas, home to only 27% of the population. This concentration leaves the majority of Indians, especially those in rural regions and tier III urban centres, with limited access to quality healthcare.
Affordability, accessibility, and awareness are major barriers to the penetration of quality medical services throughout India. The advanced medical technologies and specialized physicians are predominantly found in large hospitals situated in tier I and tier II cities. This results in a significant gap in healthcare services for those living in rural areas and smaller urban centres.
Globally, the healthcare system is shifting towards a patient-centric model, with digital empowerment playing a crucial role. The advent of smartphones and information technology has enabled patients to seek personalized treatment and better healthcare. With the introduction of 5G technology in India, there is an opportunity to revolutionize the healthcare sector.
One major challenge in the Indian healthcare system is the lack of data on patient outcomes and medical records, especially in doctors’ clinics. Medical insurance primarily covers hospital expenses, leaving clinics without the necessary support for electronic medical records (EMRs). EMRs are essential as they provide a digital version of a patient’s medical and treatment history, aiding in better healthcare management.
Looking ahead, India is poised to embrace a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem where small clinics will coexist with home healthcare services and sophisticated hospitals. The focus is gradually shifting from a curative approach to a preventive one, emphasizing homecare, ambulatory, and emergent care services outside of traditional hospital settings.
Introducing Medibriefcase
In response to the evolving healthcare landscape, we, a team of dedicated professionals—Dr. Anuj, Dr. Judhajit, Dr. Abhay, Ms. Shayanti, and Mrs. Jagrata—have come together to form Medibriefcase. Collaborating with a software development company based in Ranchi, we are developing a digital solution that can be accessed via smartphones. This initiative aims to make the healthcare ecosystem accessible to patients and doctors in remote and deprived areas, bringing them on par with urban centres.

Our mentor, Mr. Indrajit, has been instrumental in guiding us through this journey. The digital solution we are working on is tailored to meet the specific healthcare needs of backward states like Jharkhand. It is being developed by local healthcare professionals in Ranchi, leveraging their clinical experience and understanding of patient needs.
The details of the solution will be disclosed as it develops and launches. A key feature of this digital solution is its grassroots origin—created in Jharkhand by Ranchi-based professionals for the benefit of local patients and doctors. This initiative aims to provide easy, accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare to everyone in Jharkhand, with plans to expand to other parts of the country based on our experiences.
First Steps: Medical Check-up Camp
As part of our mission to provide quality healthcare to underserved communities, Medibriefcase organized a free medical check-up camp on October 19, 2022, at Vatsalya Dham orphanage in Chhatarmaru village, Ramgarh district, Jharkhand. The camp was attended by Dr. Anuj, Dr. Abhay, Dr. Rahul, and myself. We received invaluable support from my father, wife Tania, and Rajnath uncle, who assisted with registration and basic health data collection.

The camp saw the attendance of thirty children and several others from nearby villages. We concluded the event by sharing a meal with the children of Vatsalya Dham. The response to our first camp was encouraging, providing us with valuable insights and learning experiences. We plan to organize more free medical check-up camps across various locations in Jharkhand, continuing our mission to make quality healthcare accessible to all.
Acknowledgements
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Managing Committee of NGO Abhiyan, particularly Mr. Amit, Mr. Manoj, and Mrs. Ambika Rani, for their cooperation and support in organizing the camp. We also appreciate the encouragement and support provided by Mr. Indrajit Roy Choudhury, Mrs. Tania Siddhartha, and Mr. Rajnath Mahato. Their contributions have been instrumental in our journey towards bridging the healthcare divide in India.
This blog captures our journey, challenges, and aspirations as we strive to make a difference in the healthcare sector. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress and upcoming initiatives. Together, we can create a healthier future for all.

Congratulations, Judhajit and your Medibriefcase team. Wish you all the best in your digital solution. I am sure it will be a great success. Keep up the good job continue.
