An Afternoon at Getalsud Dam

Hey everyone, I hope you are doing well. Today I want to share with you my experience of visiting Getalsud Dam, Ranchi. It was a memorable trip that I enjoyed a lot with my wife, T.

Getalsud Dam is a beautiful place that offers a scenic view of the water reservoir and the surrounding hills. It is located about 35 km from Ranchi city and is easily accessible by road. The dam was built in 1971 for irrigation and drinking water purposes. The dam is located on the Subarnarekha River. It also serves as a picnic spot for tourists and locals.

The reservoir, with a catchment area of 717 sq. km, has a full reservoir level of 1,954 ft. The main purpose of the Dam is to fulfill the drinking water requirements of the residents of Ranchi. Apart from that, it is also used for industrial purposes and generating electricity.

Yesterday, we decided to go there in the afternoon, and it is not very far from our house. We drove along the NH-33 highway on my Bullet. The road was smooth, and we reached the dam from the Datma village in about an hour. I preferred this route so that we can have the beach without any crowd and for the natural feel.

The first thing that caught our eye was the huge expanse of water that shimmered under the sun. The water level was high, and we could see some boats. We walked along the dam and enjoyed the breeze and the view. We also took some photos and selfies with the water as the backdrop.

After spending some time there, we decided to go back to our motorcycle. We drove back to Ranchi with a smile on our faces and a memory in our hearts. We stopped at the Madhuvan Restaurant to have our evening snacks before returning home.

Getalsud Dam is a wonderful place to visit if you are looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway from the city. It is also a great place to spend some quality time with your friends or family. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature and water.

That’s all for today, folks. I hope you liked this blog post and found it interesting. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. And don’t forget to subscribe to our blog for more updates on our travels and adventures. Until next time, take care and stay safe!
